Piquette Seltzer w/ Grenache & Mourvedre Skins – Amplify Wines Collaboration

Run From Me is the confluence of two projects we’ve been really excited about. First, is our experiments with what we call Farmhouse Seltzers; that is, seltzers made by fermenting different blends of cane sugar varieties in wine barrels with our house cultures. Second, is a couple of collaborations we’ve been working on with local (natural / low-intervention) wineries.

Run From Me is a collaboration with Amplify Wines, where Cameron and Marlen Porter are making excellent wines up in Santa Maria. We worked with them to source still-fermenting pomace from their wine-making process, which we re-fermented with cane sugar here at the brewery, and allowed to mature in neutral barrels for several months. Run From Me features Grenache and Mourvedre grape skins from Kærskov Vineyards.

This piquette seltzer hybrid pours slightly hazy and it’s color sits just between raspberry and plum. The first note I get on the nose is big black pepper character, with cider, red berry, thyme and jasmine notes to back it up. I’m really stoked about this collaboration and can’t wait for you to try it!
