SUMMARY:Sour Friends Fest: A SoCal Sour & Wild Ale Appreciation Party!
DESCRIPTION:  \n \n  \n  \nSour Friends Fest is back\, this time in partnership with the Los Angeles County’s Brewers Guild. Join us during the 11th annual L.A. Beer Week on Saturday June 22nd for a celebration of some of the best barrel aged sour beer being produced within Southern CA. \nThis year\, you’ll enjoy unlimited 3oz pours from the following independent breweries: \nBeachwood Blendery \nBerry Relativity 6.80% \nBelgian-style sour ale fermented and aged in oak barrels with Boysenberry\, Raspberry and Blood Orange zest \nFor The Love of Guava 6.50% \nBelgian-style sour ale fermented and aged in oak barrels with guava \n  \nBrouwerij West \nPicture Brain – Blueberry MF Saison 6.66% \nAnother in our line of mixed-fermentation saisons\, PICTURE BRAIN is fermented in our stainless solera for six months\, transfered and aged in used Syrah puncheons for another six months on blueberries\, and finally bottle conditioned for another year. The process is long and arduous\, but the results are incredibly worth the wait. \nDog Ate My Homework 7% \nA fresh\, decidedly fruit-forward saison\, brewed with Washington State blackberries and black currants. This beer is deep red in color\, but rather than being sweet like many fruit beers\, Dog Ate My Homework is dry\, tart\, and refreshing. \n  \nCasa Agria Specialty Ales \nFruta Mixta 8.4% \nSaison aged on apricot\, peach\, and raspberry.   \nCerezita 6.4% \nGrisette aged on tart cherries and pinot noir grape skins \n  \nCellador Ales \nCuvee De Fleur 5.6%\nThis is the unfruited base beer for our Homage collaboration Fleur de Masumoto blend 2.\n\nDeadcrush  12% \nCopper wild ale and malbec wine grape hybrid.\n\nCinque 8.0% \n2019 tier 5 syndicate beer. Wild ale with black raspberries and Uganda Vanilla Beans\n\nApatheia 5.0% \nWild ale with kaffir lime zest\, second use feijoa guavas and young ginger\n\nHollywoo 9.0% \nBourbon barrel aged dark wild ale with Ethiopia Kayon Mountain Natural Coffee\n\n\nStone Soup 3.7% \nSmall Oat Saison brewed with CA grown Admiral Pilsner Malt. Fermented with our house mixed cultures and aged 3 times on spent Masumoto fruit.\n\n\nCarrot King 6.0% \nBelgian inspired wild ale bottle conditioned with Nantes carrot juice from Weisser Farms\n\nRaspberry Berlinerish 4.6% \nBlend of barrel aged Berliner Weisse style beers with whole red raspberries\n\nRed Beet Saison 8% \nWild ale conditioned with red beet juice\n\nEntropic 4.4% \nWild ale with guavas and pomelo zest. Collaboration with Dionysus Brewing\n\nQuat Hands 6.1% \nRustic saison with Mandarinquats and Buddha’s Hand\nCraftsman Brewing   \nPeachy Keen 8.3% \nTwo full years of barrel aging and the addition of five different Masumoto Farm peach and nectarine varieties compose what can be best described as a sublime drinking experience. Light in body\, slightly tart and ultimately easy going but full of flavor\, Peachy Keen is all about time and great ingredients. \nHonesty Ale 6.8% \nA barrel-aged sour beer brewed in 2016 with the addition of Montgomery Cherries from Washington worth their weight in gold.  Aged in French oak for 2 years\, tart with a lovely cherry nose.  Think George Washington & the cherry tree; “I cannot tell a lie.” \n  \nDionysius Brewing Company \nGuava Paradise 7.20% \nA barrel-aged golden sour aged with guava and ginger \nArcadian 7% \nOpen top fermented Saison with Masumoto fruit. – Two Variants – One with Peaches & the other with Nectarines. \n  \nFirestone Walker Brewing Company \nViolet Underground 5.5 \nA cuvée was born from Somerset Wild\, a newly minted Golden and Sunrise Raspberry ale\, and Barrelwork’s blending warhouse\, Cowbell. Proprietary yeast from both sides of the Atlantic\, fresh local California fruit and French candied violet petals went into the cauldron. The resulting potion is bursting with ripe fresh fruit\, a hint of violet petals and anchored by a funky yeast foundation. A quenching acidity and lively carbonation rounds out the collaboration. SLOambic 5.90% \nAmerican Wild Ale. For this vintage\, fresh blackberries were added to Sour Opal\, a beer matured up to 24 months in oak barrels\, and then fermented using our proprietary blend of microflora for an additional four months.   Bursting with ripe berries and brambles\, as well as hints of jam\, the fruit gives way to a rustic funk and soft oak flavors\, finishing with a mouth-watering acidity.  Bursting with fresh fruit aroma\, we humbly present 2018 SLOambic.   \n  \nGreen Cheek Beer Co \nTBD \n  \nHighland Park Brewery \nCollective Blend #2 w/Masumoto Peaches 5.5% \nBarrel-Aged Blended Sour w/Masumoto Peaches \nOn Cones 5.8% \nRustic Saison Aged on Sugar Pine Cones \n  \nHomage Brewing \nHuman Behavior 8.5% \nAle conditioned in oak w/Malbec Grape Must \nCherry Blosson Girl 6% \nBarrel Aged Saison with cherries and grape skins \n  \nHorus Aged Ales/Cellador \nTammy 9.4% \nAn Idiosyncratic Wild Ale \nTo create the contents of this beer\, Kyle & Kevin bound 2 barrels from Horus of cherry sour that had been resting in Buffalo Trace Rye Whisky Barrels\, with beers from Cellador that had taken a long nap in a Four Roses Bourbon\, Malbec\, and Sherry barrels with marionberries\, Malbec Grapes\, and Black Raspberries. The result is a truly singular and potent potion\, portraying a perfect imbalance of powerfully pungent flavors that pack a punch to your palate\, and yet still complex enough to make you contemplate the meaning of life and the origin of the cosmos. \n  \nHomage Brewing \nHuman Behavior 8.5% \nAle conditioned in oak w/Malbec Grape Must \nCherry Blosson Girl 6% \nBarrel Aged Saison with cherries and grape skins \n  \nLong Beach Beer Lab \nMilk The Raspberry 7.2% \nBarrel Fermented and Barrel Aged Mixed Fermentation Ale on Raspberries \nHell of the North 11.20% \nFlanders Style Red Ale with Viognier Grapes \n  \nMikkeller Brewing San Diego \nLogger Blocks 5% \nOak Fermented & Lagered Kellerpils \nArt Concerned 9.8% \nBlended Wild Ale Aged on Temecula Syrah Grapes \n  \nModern Times beer \nShrine of Forsaken Gods 6.3% \nBarrel Aged Pale Sour with Raspberries \nWizard & Graf: Chapter 2 6.4% \nCider/Beer Hybrid Aged in Amphora\, Red Wine Barrels\, & North American Port Barrels \n  \nMonkish Brewing Co. \nSame Tree 6.6% \nTart saison aged in French oak foudre\, conditioned with yellow peaches and nectarines from the Masumoto Family Farms \nLonely Traffic Light 5.5% \nBarrel-fermented farmhouse ale collaboration with Holy Mountain Brewery \n  \nPure Project \nScyndication 8.10% \nCollaboration with Cellador. SUMMARY:Fleur de Masumoto Bottle & Glassware Release!
DESCRIPTION:It’s our favorite time of year. Our annual collaboration with our friends at Homage Brewing is ready for its debut. \n  \nThe 3rd variation of Fleur de Masumoto will be released in our tasting room on Saturday\, September 21st starting at 12pm. \n  \nIn addition to the bottle release of Fleur de Masumoto\, we will be releasing exclusive Fleur collaboration glassware\, as well as bottles of the base blend without fruit\, Cuvee de Fleur. \n  \nPlease note\, Fleur de Masumoto has sold out quickly each year. Not everyone is guaranteed a bottle of either release\, or the collaboration glassware. We highly recommend arriving early to increase your chances of purchasing a bottle and/or glass. The release is on a first come first serve basis\, and is only available while supplies last. \n  \nRELEASE DETAILS \n  \nFLEUR DE MASUMOTO\nHomage Brewing Collaboration – Masumoto Le Grand Nectarine Sour Blend 5.6% ABV\n375ml – $13.00 +tax/crv Limit 1/pp\n750ml – $26.00 +tax/crv Limit 1/pp\n1.5L – $52.00 +tax/crv Limit 1/pp TOTAL \n  \n\n\n \n\nFROM THE BREWER: \nOur collab with the great people from Homageis back for the third time! Just like blends 1 and 2\, we combined barrels from our cellar with barrels of beer from Homage\, then split that beer and fruited it in our separate facilities with the same variety of Masumoto fruit\, the Le Grand Nectarine. The only difference between the two beers is that ours was fruited in oak and bottle conditioned with orange blossom honey. This is by far my favorite batch of this beer so far! Oaky\, funky\, super fruity\, and not too acidic. Cheers! \nCUVEE DE FLEUR\nHomage Brewing Collaboration – Un-fruited Blend of Barrel Aged Sours 5.6% ABV\n750ml – $21.00 +tax/crv Limit 1/pp\n1.5L – $42.00 +tax/crv Limit 1/pp TOTAL \n  \n\n\n \n  \nFROM THE BREWER: \nThis beer showcases the amazing blend of Fleur de Masumoto before we added the fruit. It’s insane how much a fruit re-fermentation changes the whole profile of a beer. Like last year\, we thought this would be a great opportunity for you to experience this process for yourself. \nFleur de Masumoto\nCOLLABORATION GLASS\n$11/glass +tax/crv Limit 2/pp\n12oz Libbey Straight-Sided Zombie Glass \n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n  \n1.5L Magnum formats of Fleur de Masumoto & Cuvee de Fleur in house only on Saturday! ONLY 1 MAGNUM PER PERSON TOTAL. That means\, pick Fleur or Cuvee if you’re interested in the magnum format! \nCheers!

In most cases\, this will be the head brewer or founder. \nWhich beers will be served? \nThe beers at the fest are extremely fresh and limited release\, so it’s hard to predict brewing schedules well in advance. However\, we’ll release the beer lists in the week leading up to the fest as they become available. \nWill there be enough beer? \nSome breweries will kick their kegs before last call\, but we will do our best to avoid this. \nWill you have merchandise? \nAbsolutely. The event is outdoors and will be rain or shine. \nWe strongly encourage that attendees use services like Uber\, Lyft\, or local taxis\, but there are parking spaces near the train station. \nThere’s a chance we’ll be taking photos or filming video at this event. SUMMARY:Jackson Ranch Cocktail Night @The Tasting Room!
DESCRIPTION:On Friday 11/15\, we will be releasing Jackson Ranch\, a whiskey inspired beer in 2 variants. One aged in a High West Double Rye Single Barrel and the other in a Knob Creek Cask strength Single Barrel. Alongside the bottle release will be the release of Jackson Ranch glassware & pins\, featuring Jax\, our brewers dog. And yes\, this beer was made in dedication to the angry little guy. \nIn order to honor the release\, it only seems right to create some whiskey based cocktails\, using both versions. Meet us at the tasting room for 9 different cocktails\, created by our very own\, Kevin\, Alex\, and Adam. Stay tuned for details on each cocktail\, and get ready to party. \nJACKSON RANCH \n \nJackson Ranch : High West / Jackson Ranch : Knob Creek\nFrom the Brewer \n10% abv\n375ml – $24 + tax/crv\nLimit 2/pp of each variant \nJackson Ranch was conceived of two years ago as almost exactly what it turned out to be. I wanted to brew a wild ale with rye that matched as closely as possible the color and look of long aged whisky. What I ended up doing was taking one barrel of that rye batch and blending it with one barrel of our normal red base\, which had both been aging in neutral whisky barrels for 8 months\, and blending them together before putting it back into two extremely fresh and special whisky barrels\, a Single Barrel 9 Year High West Double Rye\, and a Single Barrel 14 year Knob Creek. These rested for an additional 8 months before being packaged in clear 375ml whisky bottles un-carbonated. \nThe result is more interesting and more delicious than I could have ever hoped. You do get a lot of whisky flavor and aroma in both variants\, but also a ton of oxidative sherry characteristics. Generally in a sour beer\, long exposure to oxygen would produce unpleasant flavors of acetic acid (vinegar) and ethyl acetate (nail polish remover)\, but instead these aged gracefully more like a spirit. My theory is that since the beer was high in alcohol and dark in color that all of the brettanomyces and bacteria that would have created those flavors were completely dead in the beer\, allowing it to transform and oxidize slowly and gracefully into pleasant flavors. \nI recommend never putting these beers in the fridge. We believe they taste best when consumed at a cool room temperate (like whisky!). Pour a few ounces in a rocks glass\, snifter\, or Glencarin glass and savor slowly. You can also open a bottle and finish it over 2-3 days. Or get creative and make your own cocktail with it! We’ll post some of our Jackson Ranch cocktail recipes on our blog soon. \nI love to experiment and push the boundaries of what a beer can be. And we hope you enjoy this truly unique beverage. \n\nJackson Ranch Merchandise \nJackson Ranch is a beer named honoring our brewer’s rescue pup. Read more about Jax in a recent Instagram Post\, and get ready for some fun merchandise with his little angry self. \nEnamel Pin\n$6/pin + tax \n \n6 oz.
